Daylight savings time does me no good. Everyone says, “you get a whole extra hour to sleep,” but that has yet to happen. If you think about it I woke up today about the same time I did yesterday but now it is an hour earlier but got the same amount of sleep. Now I have to go and set all my clocks.
No more
Posted in Rants on July 24, 2008 by Jonathan LochamyI have had enough of taking antibiotics. I feel better now and I just can’t take much more. Also, 3 weeks of no beer or a nice drink.
I think this weekend I will be ready for a game of tennis, weather permit that is.

Atlanta trip to see Eddie Izzard
Posted in Concerts with tags Atlanta, beer, Eddie Izzard on June 26, 2008 by Jonathan LochamyThe trip to Atlanta was fun. We had to stop by Dunking Donuts and this time they had the right flavors. After that we stopped at Green’s Beverage on Pounce De Leon and it is a true adult candy store. I picked up some new things to try. Mostly some imperial stouts and chocolate beers. I did get some Chimay both red and blue.
We made it to Cobb Energy Theater about an hour before the show started. It finally started at 8:15 and lasted for over 2 hours. Eddie Izzard is funny as hell. He does not dress up anymore which disappointed Stacy but I was fine with the mostly normal clothes. I laughed a lot and laughed out loud too. Even if I was sick I had a great time.
Just a mini vacation
Posted in Concerts on June 25, 2008 by Jonathan LochamyHaving the next two days off from work will hopefully get me back to being 100%, I really hate when I get sick like this. I need to get some rest today before we head off to Atlanta tonight. We are going to see Eddie Izzard and it does not start till 8 pm. That gives us time to first stop by Dunkin Donuts and then a trip to Green’s Beverage. No, I am not having beer and donuts together. I have a list of beer that I know they will have there. If only we could get it here in Alabama, maybe next year if the Senate will get off their lazy butts and do their jobs.
I should have taken Friday off too because it will seem like a pain to go back to work for one day and then be off again. At least I got all my stuff at work done and should not walk into any surprises.

First day in Austin
Posted in Austin, Vacation, beer with tags Austin, beer, Vacation on March 16, 2008 by Jonathan LochamyThe flight was not bad until Stacy was nice enough to let me sit by the window and then a few minutes later a huge man sit next to her. The flight from Dallas to Austin was late and we were late landing. We still got to our shuttle and made it to the Hilton and got our room and then off we went. We walked down 6th street and had a late lunch at Opal Divine’s. I had a Chimay White and then a Young’s Double Chocolate Stout. Both were good especially the cheese fries. Later that night we went to the Gingerman
for some beer, which they have the 330 ml bottles of Chimay. Stacy had a few to many of them and I had one, along with two Arrogant Bastards, Rouge Shakespeare Stout and then a few samples of various beers. That was enough for us for the first night and back to the room we went.
Not exactly the typical weekend
Posted in weekend with tags beer, On Tap, weekend on February 10, 2008 by Jonathan LochamyFriday started out good. I went to Homewood to check out some places for hard to find beer. I wend to Tria Market in the Soho square and they had some beer that I can get at Villa Spirits but at least this one sells individual bottles. I picked up 2 Rogue beers, a Dead Guy Ale (which is good) and a St. Rogue Red Ale (and it was not good), the 3rd bottle was a Fuller’s London Porter. I went to Overton and Vine near the Summit and picked up a 6 pack of Rogue Mocha Porter. Also the stuff I found here I can get at Villa Spirits.
When Stacy got up on Saturday she could smell cat urine downstairs and we could not find it. It is bad that I can smell some things but some odors I can not. I had been downstairs for about 4 hours and never could smell it. We went to pick a Rug Doctor and spent hours cleaning the carpet. We went ahead and did her whole house while we were at it. Not the way we wanted to spend the weekend. But it was not bad, still got to spend time together.
Later that night we met up with Shane, Steven and Tina at On Tap and I got some Rogue Chocolate Stout. Brandon and Andrea was running late to the World of Wheels and could not make it to meet up with us. Stacy got her Woodchuck, so we both got real great beer.
Of course the typical weekend part is that I woke up at 4 am and could not go back to sleep.
Long but fun night
Posted in weekend with tags beer, Bell Bottoms, Blue Monkey, drinks, J Clyde on February 2, 2008 by Jonathan LochamyWell, we started off at The Blue Monkey for drinks. I had a Chocolate Martini, an Irish Car Bomb and a New Castle. Stacy ended up with 2 Blue Monkeys, a Caramel Apple and then had a Sex with an alligator. It was fun and the place is different but very nice.
Next we needed food and went to the J. Clyde. I had hot wings that were too hot and Stacy ended up with chicken fingers with fries. She had a Woodchuck as I had a Rogue Chocolate Stout. There was no way of me passing it up. It was not good with the hot wings though. I did have to use a glass of water and a Rogue Dead Guy Ale that Stacey could not finish. The J. Clyde is not what I was expecting but I did like it. Same beer selection as On Tap and much warmer at On Tap. I think I will go back to the J. Clyde when it warms up. The heaters they have are too warm if you are close to it and not enough if you are too far away. Our waiter was not great, since the J. Clyde is supporting the boycott of Birmingham Anheuser Busch, which I support the boycott, they were not serving A/B products. But our waiter would not serve Stacey a Killian’s because of the boycott. Killian’s is a Miller/Coors product and that is not part of the boycott.
The last stop was to Bell Bottoms and we got there too early and it was dead for a long time. It started to pick up later and there are many stories from that night but will be left out of this post. In all it was about a 7 or 8 hour time span that we were out and I may be getting too old for it…. or maybe not.
Where did the weekend go?
Posted in weekend on January 27, 2008 by Jonathan LochamyThis weekend went by too quick. Friday night we decided at the last minute to go to OnTap on 280. It was great when we got there but by the time we left we were just tired and ready to call it a night. I did get to have two Rogue Chocolate Stouts and Stacy had one Woodchuck.
Saturday was a cold and lazy day. We just sit around and I took a short nap before we went to Costa’s for lunch. Of course we both had the “Defenseless baby cow” with spaghetti. The place was so packed and not enough servers. After that I met up with Brandon and Shane to play basketball just to find out there was a Karate tournament going on and we just stood around and talked. We are going to try to play during the week and see how that goes. It was still good to get out and see them even if we did not get to play. Later that night I tried the Anchor Steam Christmas Ale but was so full from lunch that a sandwich and soup was enough to fill me up. Even too full to eat the lemon square that I picked up from Edgar’s Bakery on Friday.
Now of course I have been wide awake since 4 am and there is not much on TV, like I really watch it anyway and I have caught up on all of my news feeds and then decided I really need to do a better job of this blog. Not that there will be more than one or two people that will read it but to help me keep up with what I have done and when. Do not call it a diary or I will kick your ass!

Dresden Dolls at the Variety Playhouse
Posted in Concerts with tags Atlanta, concert, Dresden Dolls, Variety Playhouse on January 12, 2008 by Jonathan LochamyThis is such a fun day. We made it to Atlanta and found our way to the Little Five Points Tavern and Stacy started off with a Smithwick’s and I had a Chimay Grand Reserve. Well needless to say Chimay took over the rest of the meal. I had four and she had three and part of one of mine.
We then went to the local beer store and they were out of Chimay so that was a bummer. But she did get me a Rogue Chocolate Stout and an Ommegang Chocolate Indlgence. Very good beers.
When then headed back to The Variety Playhouse to see The Dresden Dolls and they rocked. I have liked their music for a long time and it was great to finally get to see them live.
Here is a clip from that night…
I really liked when they did a cover of the Beastie Boys “Fight for your right to party.”
